With an impressive track record that spans over 30 years, Paul is a highly-respected, award-winning factual exec who has achieved a reputation for bold and ambitious natural history and specialist factual programmes, having secured numerous commissions from all UK and most international broadcasters. Wooding’s long list of impressive credits feature T. Rex Autopsy, Blitz Street, Black Files Declassified, Hive Alive, Last War Heroes, Smash Lab and Wild Tube.
Paul originally trained as a photographer and became a BBC editor, then director, producer and executive producer. As well as many years at the BBC, Paul worked extensively in the independent sector. As a result he has experience of every aspect of production. He can self-shoot an ob doc or direct multi camera productions and live events, both on location and in studio. Or if a film needs complex camera rigs, CGI or green screen – no problem.
He writes, directs, edits and produces engaging content working with a diverse range of talent – both on and off screen. Productions and their teams can be large or small and he works with a range of budgets – from £10k/ hour (a live show for BBC3) to over £1 million (on a high end International output).
With his positive mindset and wealth of experience, he makes things happen, delivering on time and budget. Paul also consults on various TV projects – being brought in to push a development over the line with broadcasters, get things back on track editorially, financially and/or strategically.
As well as many years at the BBC, Paul worked extensively in the independent sector for Lion TV, Mentorn, Darlow Smithson, Impossible Pictures and now runs his own production company Spark TV in Bristol.
